I only wish it didn't end here (and does it have to, Gordon? Cough cough). Anyway, wonderful writing, awesome characters, a world like our own and yet not. The best steampunk fiction ever written -- so good it transcends the label. I can't express how much I love the Glass Books series and hope with all my heart that Mr. Dahlquist keeps going, with this series or with something equally captivating and wonderful.

In my mind, this is the best fantastic fiction to come along in quite some time.

Interesting end to a series, but was overly long. Hope there are additional volumes, but they need to be shorter because each volume feels repetitive because of the length. The length doesn't add value to the story line.
Disappointed. I was expecting a far better ending considering how well the first book was written. Felt scattered and confusing.

The Chemikal Marriage is book 3 in the trilogy of the the Glass Books of the Dream Eaters. It's an excellent period piece that takes place in another world very similar to our own. It has sex, religion and alchemy woven together with very well developed characters and world building. A very enjoyable read.
Published only in England, but it exists! The Dark Volume, in the way of second installments in trilogies, left something to be desired, but The Chemickal Marriage does a more-than-able job of wrapping it all up. Rollicking, hilarious, and stocked with vivid characters in the way of the first book, it's satisfying (especially for those of us who have been waiting for so long) and hard to put down. When I finished it, I immediately started rereading the first one, as it had been so many years.
When I read the first book, I had an instant love/hate with it. I really didn't want to finish it, but I couldn't put it down no matter how hard I tried. It bothered me so that I read the second, and now will be very sad when this, the final book in this collection is over. Dalhquist is a master of the pen and commands the language to paint a story in not only words, but emotions AND spirit.
