The book was very motivating. I have walked and been active since 41 when I stopped smoking. I will be 72 in June and after reading Laura's book I try to walk or bike daily - sometime "life gets in the way of my intention" but I have done pretty good.I signed up for her e-mails and find them very motivating also. Laura writes with the "best friend in the room" demeanor that she hosts her radio show with, and this book not only keeps you engaged and entertained, but truly does inspire you to take your health into your own hands and just move foreword with awareness and increased health every single day. It is inspiration to lose weight, for sure, but I found it motivation to clean up how I eat, simply lower my carbs and make better decisions for a healthier, happier life!

I just finished the book this weekend. I am was so inspired by it, I am beginning today to take steps to a healthier, happier, thinner me. The steps Dion-Jones gives for success boil down to 3 things Do 1 hour of cardio every day. Eliminate white starchy foods. Don't give up. It's not that she makes it sound easy, as much as she makes it seem impossible. She uses her own personal narrative to inspire others.
Laura lays it out nice and simple for everyone. Not a medical book, not a cast in concrete diet book and not the latest fad diet either. More in the vein of simple common sense and motivation that is obvious after she tells you why.
You do have to make losing weight a commitment to yourself and your loved ones especially. What is more important? Feeding your piehole or actively playing someday with your grandchildren? What is the defining moment in your life that will make you push away that half pound piece of cake with frosting or that BIg Mac, large fries and a shake away and tell yourself enough is enough? Laura had hers, did something about it and has successfully won the battle against her food demons. She tells everyone how to win their personal battle against their food demons as well.
Start eating sensibly; she tells you how and don't worry, you still can eat normal meals and great tips to cure those cravings with things that are actually good for you. She also goes into detail about what you can do to get your rear end off the couch and start exercising sensibly and in different ways to start burning calories and get yourself into a cardio program that you enjoy and that you can keep up for the rest of your life. Whether it is cardio paced walking, running, swimming or lifting weights, you have to commit yourself to get fit, as she says. You'll feel better both physically and emotionally, you won't be stared at for being obese, your medical bills will decrease and you'll live long enough hopefully, for your loved ones to continue to have you in their lives. So next time you're thinking about wolfing down a large plate of brownies or a half a bag of chips and dip, think about your family and make that Commitment to get Fit. You'll thank yourself and so will your friends and family. They know and will support you with your commitment.
