Description of Book This book is a Diary of a young teenager girl named Amber Billow who lived during the attack of Pearl Harbor.

My Opinion on this book is that it shows information of the attack of Pearl Harbor in the point of view of real people who lived during this time. It keeps you of the edge of your sit wondering if the characters are safe and how they feel during this time. It’s less of an informational book and more of a story and perspective of someone young during this time in history but it still is informational. Because you are living through the life of young girl you can see everything that is going on during this time instead of state up facts.

Weapons Japan used during Pearl Harbor The weapons used during the attack on Pearl Harbor included N5N2 bomber, Aichi D3A1 dive bombers, A6M Model 21 Zero, machine guns, and more.

Related to my Book The main character’s best friend was Japanese and her father cared a lot about the war starting between Japan and America. So the main character saw the point of view of Japanese people during this bombing.

My Claim Yes my novel closely reflects events that occurred in history.
Without realizing it, Amber does an excellent job of capturing the tension that people in Hawaii felt regarding the possible war with Japan. While Amber doesn’t always understand the reactions of the adults, as an adult reader, I do. This is a testament to the author’s writing. He does an excellent job of capturing the chaos, the shock, the blood, panic, and surprise, how in one morning, paradise became hell. The characters are engaging and well-rounded. In particular, I like Amber’s mother, and understood her actions, as an adult, in ways Amber could not. While the author does not spare the details of the attack or the hospital scenes after, this is acceptable for older elementary age readers. It’s an excellent introduction to Pearl Harbor and what happened after. Worth reading.
This fictional novel was one I had to read it for school, but I thought it was good and would read it again.

Bought for 12 year old niece, who loves these books. She has read quite a few of them and wants to read them all.
This is one dear America book I've never been able to get into. it's too short, and I don't think there's much of a plot here, and the book just ends abruptly.
